The Art in Community series is specifically designed for seniors (60+) from the Pescadero-La Honda-San Gregorio-Loma Mar area who are interested in exploring their creativity and making new friends.With experienced artists as your guide, you will be able to create a work of art with step-by-step instructions while meeting new people, enjoying great conversation and having fun in a high-spirited 2.5-hour art class. Canvas, paints, brushes, and aprons will be provided for all participants. Preregister to secure your seat!

Family Art Day! Free Family Fun

Madrone Arts is pleased to announce a NEW family event featuring art-making and gallery tours. Spring is here and the flowers are blooming. Our current exhibition “Primavera” is a perfect backdrop to explore the beauty of flowers. Madrone member, artist Doreen Maller, will guide participants through an exploration of flower- themed art. Drawing, collage and painting on images will be available for participants at a communal table in the main gallery. This event is for ages 5 and up. (Please note: This is not a “drop off” event. Children must be accompanied by a parent, adult, or guardian.) This event is free to South Coast families through a grant provided by Dragonfly Community Arts. All materials and instruction will be provided.

Message in a Bottle

Madrone Arts is happy to host a special workshop with David Jacobson and Ellen Brook that celebrates the joys and benefits of handwriting a heartfelt letter. Participants will create a mini artwork, decorate a bottle with visual elements that reflect their message, and then insert the message and artwork in your bottle. Your very own message in a bottle! David Jacobson (writer/educator) and Ellen Brook (visual artist) will guide you through this fun and expressive process. Past participants have written messages in a bottle to a range of recipients, including their ancestors, lost loves, a character from a favorite book, and past, future or dream selves.The process can lead to a a sense of peace and has been described by participants as deeply satisfying..
