Madrone Arts is pleased and proud to present a one-man exhibit of work by Paul Carey.
Carey is a recognized artist associated with the Society of Six, a group of artists renowned in the early decades of the 20th Century. A Modernist, Paul Carey was an important member of the group of plein-air artists that has defined Bay Area landscape painting.
Paul Carey worked in oil, watercolor and pastel, creating landscapes in the Southwest, Hawaii, Canada, England, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Paul Carey taught at the California School of Arts and Crafts, the University of California at Berkeley and the San Francisco Art Institute. One of his favorite subjects was the Pescadero Marsh. This exhibit brings home some of the images he created here.

Madrone Arts new exhibition, Abundance, invites us to pause and appreciate not only what the land provides, but also the that surrounds us every day—in creativity, community, connection, and the simple pleasures of being present.
This exhibition brings together artwork inspired by the Abundance of living on the California coast: ripe fruit. Through form, color, and texture, the works in this exhibition offer a celebration of plenty, and a reminder to look closely at the gifts that are already here.
