Chevrotain

I love seeing wild animals and where I live I am surrounded by the forest. This piece is inspired by the chevrotain; the smallest hoofed animal in the world. In reality, he looks like a deer mouse with smaller ears and longer legs

For me, he turned into a wooly sheep inhabiting this magical, soft landscape. A lot of my pieces begin with actual animals that exist in nature but morph into an alter ego or an expanded version of themselves.

Pretty Bird

Birds are a recurring theme in my work and provide a lighter counterpoint to some of my other work. My studio is on the second floor and surrounded by trees full of birds all around. They like to come out around 4pm and sing and chit chat with each other. I believe birds are messengers. They ground me in my day to day and this piece is a pretty reminder of how thankful I am for them.
